Scoring and Awards

We care about our dancers and want to make this as fair as possible!

Sportsmanship:

Good sportsmanship is a must by all who attend HUSTLE events. We expect fairness and respect for one’s opponent, as well as graciousness with awards/placements.

Part of competing with HUSTLE is to learn and grow; as well as accepting your placement, keeping spirits high and preparing for the next competition.

Scoring:

We will have the same 3 judges adjudicate a division and a 4th judge who will monitor that routines are in the correct division. If judges see a routine is not in the correct division (skill level/style) they can suggest the routine be moved where it fits best. HUSTLE may also pull the routine from the division to be adjudicated on its own merit and the routine would not be eligible for specialty or high point awards.

Ex: If a true intermediate dancer registers in a beginning skill level, the judges can move that routine out of the division to be judged on its own merit.  They can also move a jazz routine that has a vast amount of tumbling and/or acro to the Acro or Open category etc.

Awards:

There may be several award ceremonies throughout the event depending on the organization/entries for the event.

HUSTLE will rank each routine according to the judges’ scores. Each routine will be placed in either:

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th

  • All Solo/Duet/Trio- participants will receive an award for attending.
  • All 1st place winners will receive an additional award.
  • HUSTLE will have specialty awards and a highpoint winners in each skill level.

  • Team day- Each studio will receive an award and every dancer attending will get a HUSTLE gift.
  • There will be specialty awards and a highpoint winners in each skill level.
  • All 1st and Gold rankings routines will receive an additional award.
  • We will have studio overall awards.
  • Each studio will nominate someone from their teams to win a special AKT award.

  • If there is only one routine in a division during the competition, that routine will not automatically receive a 1st place/Gold. The routine will fall in a point system and be given an award based on the score. Ex: Gold, Silver, Bronze.  We added an MVP award for anyone who scores between 300-297!

  • Gold 300 – 284
