Competitors will be grouped by similar age divisions. All ages are determined as of January 1 of the competition year.
Skill Level category
Level 1– Learning fundamentals and building confidence. Working on rhythm and beat. Dancer is doing basic movements and technical skills need improvement. Ex: Chaines, Single Pirouettes, Piques, Kicks, Basic Jumps and Front Leaps.
Hip Hop routines: Basic grooves, working on timing and style, moves are more stiff. This level is about building foundation.
Level 2 – Still learning fundamentals and attempting more difficult technique. Ex: Double Pirouettes, A La Secondes, Side Leaps, Back Leaps and Tilt Jumps.
Hip Hop routines: Smoother movement and control, understands musicality, personal style. This level you begin to feel the music and have more dynamics.
Level 3 – Exploring more intricate choreography while refining their technique skills. Challenging combos and more difficult technique is part of the choreography. Dancer has developed style and performance. Ex: Triple Pirouettes, Fouettés, Barrel Rolls, all other Leaps and Jumps.
Hip Hop routines: Strong isolations and control, understands musicality and style, can handle more complex choreography. At this level, dancing looks more effortless.
Level 4– Dancer has leveled up in choreography and is well trained. Good musicality, performance quality, and well executed technique. Ex: Quad+ Pirouettes, Turning Jumps, Changing Spot Turns, Leg Hold Turns- you name it!
Hip Hop routines: Deep understanding of style and culture, highly expressive, exceptional musicality and stage presence. This is a mastery level- where skill, creativity and experience comes together.
If a routine includes more than five tumbling and/or acrobatic elements, it should be entered in the Acro or Open category.
Up to three spotlight dancers are permitted per routine (without penalty) to showcase more advanced movement.

Group Size category:
